Crossing the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy at night was a much different experience than during the day. The streets were nearly deserted after a heavy rainfall earlier that night and the gold and jewellery shops that line the sides of the bridge had closed for the night.
The city lights reflect beautifully on the cobble stone streets and help to make the vibrant shop doors really stand out. The Ponte Vecchio is one of the oldest bridges in Florence. It was full of butcher shops long ago but is now a popular tourist attraction and full of gold shops and tourist stands. In the distance you can see the lights from the Duomo in the main square.
