During a recent trip to Seattle, WA I had a couple of hours in the early morning to explore the waterfront near Pike Place Market. The conditions weren’t perfect to say the least but I did find the dark overcast skies provided an interesting atmosphere to work with. After wandering through the industrial buildings I ended up on Pier 62, a large wooden pier that looks out over the harbour with great views of the Seattle Aquarium and the Great Wheel. The pier is popular with local fishermen, there were a couple of guys casting rods off the edge of the railing but they left shortly after I arrived. I could see there was a rain storm heading towards us.
The pier had a few large puddles leftover from the rains that came overnight. After exploring the area for a few minutes I found that the puddles had some incredible reflections when looked at in certain angles. There was also a seagull that lingered while I was taking photos, which became a great subject in the scene.
I’m sure I’ll travel back down to Seattle soon to capture some more images but for now these are my favourites!
