Smuggler Cove on the Sunshine Coast, BC is a beautiful coastal hike located just outside of Sechelt. It’s a fairly easy trail that includes some long boardwalks that lead you through wetlands until you reach the coast. The trail is lined with Arbutus and large Fir trees that provide a great amount of shade on a sunny day. When you reach the coast there are a few small beaches and a number of rocky bluffs to sit on and enjoy a picnic. In the winter months the wetlands are often flooded due to heavy rains.
This particular day was overcast with some sunshine which made the hike very enjoyable. We were confronted with a large storm cloud when we reached the coast. It blew over quickly but brought in some very gusty winds. It’s a wonderful spot for photographers to enjoy various landscape scenes!
