
[post_thumbnail]The Lions Gate Bridge is a very popular Vancouver landmark that joins the North Shore to Vancouver’s downtown core. The term “Lions Gate” refers to the two peaks on the North Shore mountains “The Lions”. The bridge construction began in 1937 and has since been upgraded a number of times.
One of the best viewpoints in Vancouver is from the middle of the bridge. You can see as far as Mt. Baker which looks just fantastic during sunset. From the other direction you get a great view of the west coast and Prospect Point in Stanley Park. There are several photos of the bridge from over the years. Everyone tries to get a different viewpoint. Here are some current photos I took from Ambleside beach in West Vancouver.
